I am a 50 year old systems programmer, happliy married, with one son, a cute wife, and 5 cats. After receiving a Kidney transplant back in 1995, I recently lost the use of my transplanted kidney and am now (unfortunately) back on dialysis. Having had a taste of both worlds - I can tell you that the transplant was truly a gift from God. Dialysis, on the other hand is an unfortunate necessity - one that I pray is only temporary until I can get another Kidney transplant. If you have had a similar experience with Dialysis and Kidney Problems, I would like to hear from you. I encourage everyone to become an organ donor ASAP. You have no idea how far reaching the gift of your organ donation can be.
I participated in the U.S. Transplant Games, in 1998, in Columbus, Ohio. It was truly a moving experience. So many lives saved through the miracle of Transplantation and also through the Compassion of those who became Organ Donors. It was truly a "Celebration of Life". There were people of all ages and races. The youngest was 17 months and the oldest was 76! The great thing about the whole event was the camaraderie shared between all of us. We had all been there and done that and lived to tell about it. It was a humbling experience for me also. Sometimes I gripe about being tired from the side-effects of some of my medicine. I was ashamed to say anything at all after seeing how much better shape I was in than some of the others at the event. I would highly recommend this event to anyone in similar conditions - it was definitely an uplifting experience!
If you move your mouse over the graphic below that says "Leave a lasting impression", another graphic will appear with a link to a universal organ donation card on the National Kidney Foundation's home page. Please give some serious thought about this !
I work on an IBM 9672 mainframe CMOS processor that operates in an MVS/ESA , JES3 environment. We interact with the mainframe via PC's operating under NT 4.0 in a LAN based environment. My duties did consist of installation, support and maintenance for: TSO, ISPF/PDF, PL/1, COBOL, DataManager, Q-Auditor, SAS, FOCUS, and Flasher. I am currently embarking on the journey to the installation of the OS/390 operating System itself!
Before my kidney problems, I was really into motorcycles. I still plan on getting back in the saddle sometime - although my Doctor doesn't quite agree. He says "Motorcycles ?" - "Oh you mean Donorcycles !" A real funny guy, but undoubtedly the best !
Now, I'm into PC's in a big way. I own an older SONY 200mhz; a Dell 1 GHZ; and recently built my first "from scratch" PC with the following list of components: Raidmax brushed aluminum cut-out case; AMD XP220 CPU; WD 40GB HDD; Nividia GE-Force TI4200 64MB video card; 512 MB Ram. I used to spend a lot of time rewriting this home page, but recently I have had other things on my mind what with my kidney failure!
By the Way - did I mention just how much I love DOTS candy ? I was first introduced to these little gems in the movie theatres a long time ago. Back then if they were fresh you were really lucky ! But - I bought them anyway. Now the company finally had the good sense to wrap the box in cellophane, and now they're always fresh when you buy them. They also come in tropical flavors and licorice (I think).
